As the manor fight ended, a serpentine creature large enough to be visible from the Valecourt grounds rose out of the Abyss. It named itself Thessarak, the Coiled Prophet, and launched into a fanatic sermon about spreading the love of its lord to the sun-blessed creatures of the surface, apparently indifferent to the artillery spells and ballista fire coming off the wall.
The wall's magical barrier came up against it and spells flew in both directions. Nobody at the table saw how that exchange ended — the party were removed from the field before it resolved. If Lord Garrick was right that the Abyss would come again, this is what fifteen years of peace was hiding.
