When the party emerged from the tunnels into a huge open cavern — ceiling so distant it looked like a night sky, a glowing river running far below a cliffside — a drider dropped on them. Unusually for its kind it was male, and it had a feral shine in its eyes though there was still sentience there.
It accused them of trespassing into "our land." Shim showed it the blood-marked compass hoping for safe passage; the sight of it, and the mention of the composer, threw the drider into a rage about city folk. It was accompanied by cat-sized bees that attach to hosts and drain them, leaving the drained condition behind.
The party ground the drider down, but Brendan ended the session describing a handful more driders and a great many other creatures crawling down the cavern walls toward them, with a sixty-foot drop into the river as the only other way out.
