The 'blobish creature' the spiders wanted dealt with turned out to be a gargantuan angler fish with a glowing lure, crawling the cavern floor near the water's edge. Its lure fascinated most of the party on sight, and it could take to the air, grab with tentacles, and swallow a medium creature whole into an acidic stomach.
It fixated on Vosk, who taunted it repeatedly and proved too bulky to swallow, but it managed to swallow Lia whole and drop her to dying before Vosk finished it. Lux crawled in through its teeth to retrieve her.
Afterward Lux found the cracked-open egg it had hatched from, resting in a pool at the bottom of the inflowing stream — barely smaller than the corpse. The egg appears to have floated down the stream from somewhere else, which means this one was not native to the cave and was not full grown.
