Azeron Vale arrived at the head of a pack of armored ghouls, monologuing that Nathara's kind would not know what to do with the artifact or how to properly manifest its power. He attempted to dominate Vosk and failed; he succeeded on Russ, who summoned nine thralls among the party before snapping out of it.
He drained the drow priestess and killed her by driving his hand through her chest. When the party turned on him in earnest he dissolved into mist, declaring that they would see each other again, and fled around a corner out of sight. In mist form he could not be damaged and was returning to his coffin.
He left behind a party-wide puzzle: he wanted the artifact badly enough to hunt a drow escort through the deep tunnels, and he knows the party has it now.
