The city grows nothing; food is traded in and textiles are traded out. It holds a summer festival. Its critical defensive asset is the Adventurers' building, which captures and relocates every gate and teleportation in or out of the city to one fixed point — until someone blew it open on the night of the betrothal ball.

Ironwatch guards the kingdom's southern border where it meets a gorge a mile wide and, so far as the general public knows, depthless. The last war with the feral monsters and creatures that come out of it ended fifteen years ago, and a whole generation has grown up without knowing war after decades of it.

The city holds an annual summer festival. It produces little food of its own and trades textiles outward, importing food from elsewhere. Above the city sits the Adventurers Building, a critical defensive installation that intercepts all gates and teleportations into the city and redirects them to a single fixed location.

That peace has come at a cost: the kingdom has steadily cut military funding, and Garrick admits he pays soldiers out of his own pocket to keep them on the wall.
